9 Espai was born in 2014 as a spin-off of the company Columbus Danza to give life to projects currently being developed in Mallorca. Columbus Danza arose in 2004 from encounters between different dancers. It has won several mentions and awards in competitions.

The company was consolidated as such in 2005; this led to the creation of the Columbus Dansa Association (2007), and the creation of two large-format choreographic pieces entitled Ayer y hoy and Far is not enough, with which they have moved around the Spanish geography: Teatre Principal de Valls (Tarragona), Teatro Lagrada (Madrid), Teatro del Mercado (Zaragoza).

Very soon several programmers became interested in this project by new choreographers. Today they continue in this process, between Mallorca and Madrid, collaborating with different artistic groups, musicians and film students. Their main interest is to create honestly, always trying to integrate the individuality of each artist, respecting and leaving a space very open to interpretation.
