Big Yuyu was formed in 2006 in Mallorca, one of the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean, not only known for being one of the main tourist destinations on the planet since the 1960s, but also for its vibrant music scene, where the blues play an important role. Since its creation, the band can proudly say that it has had more than 3000 sweaty nights of blues on its belts, having performed in the country's main clubs and festivals and toured Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Switzerland. This is a band made by musicians who love what they do night after night: make music with passion and soul.
The solid rhythm section formed by Esteve Huguet on drums and Juan Amaro on bass, pushes the skills to the voice and guitar of Jordi Alvarez, filling the atmosphere with reminiscences that recall the old blues legends with a personal touch at the same time, reminiscences that have to take Big Yuyu to the place it deserves within the national and European blues scene.
The band's fourth studio album, Soulify Girl (Rock CD, 2017), chosen by popular vote as one of the best albums of the Balearic Islands in 2018, is a new journey back in time to its roots. At the same time, with the maturity acquired during the years of the race, it is a unique and personal sound, powerful and prepared for a live performance that excites and will lead Big Yuyu to represent Spain in the next final of the European Blues Challenge 2019, to be held next April in the Azores Islands.
