Esteban Belinchón is an active and versatile cellist, educated in Austria. His concert repertoire includes a wide catalogue of works, focusing on chamber music and the recently created repertoire. Its musical proposal brings together works by renowned composers from the international contemporary music scene together with established classics from the repertoire. 

The sonorous, acoustic, expressive and communicative unfolding that the cello is capable of is extraordinary and the demands of the new music have demonstrated that the instrument has such a versatility and acoustic range that it is obligatory to revise and look for a new definition of the instrument within the musical universe.

Born in León, he studied violoncello at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca with Honourable Mention and followed this up with advanced courses at the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña in Barcelona, with Lluís Claret and Damian Martínez, and with the Quartet Casals. Later on, he moved to Austria where he specialised, with two University Masters at the University of Music and Performing Arts of Graz, in Chamber Music under the tutelage of Chia Chou and Rudolf Leopold and in Performance Practice in Contemporary Music with the prestigious international ensemble Klangforum Wien.

Esteban has been a titular member of the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España, academist of the Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona, and has collaborated and played as a soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León.

He has participated in numerous cello and chamber music improvement courses, with renowned masters such as Lucas Fels in the Contemporary Music courses of Darmstatd, Andreas Lindembaum in IMPULSO, Martin Hornstein, Rudolf Leopold, Philippe Müller, Wolfgang Boettcher, Peter Bruns or Ferenc Rados, among others, and has actively participated in contemporary music projects with internationally renowned composers such as Tristan Murail, Rebecca Saunders, Klaus Lang, Francesco Filidei, Clemens Gadenstätter, Gehrden Kuhr, Beat Furrer or Brian Ferneyhoug.

In Austria, he collaborates with many ensembles and orchestras, such as Ensemble Schallfeld, Szene Instrumental, Kug Ensemble für Neues Musik, Ambassade Orchestra, Vienna Classical Players, Oper Burg Gars Orchester, Scheiddeg Festpiel Orchester, etc.

From the summer of 2017, Esteban moved to the Balearic Islands where he established his residence. At present, he combines teaching at the Elementary Conservatory and the Municipal School of Music of Palma with his activity as a concert pianist, he is a member of the Trio Tríptic and he collaborates in various ensembles such as the Acadèmia 1830.
