He is a pneumonologist, philologist and writer.

The first book he published was La llum dels orfes (Pagès Editors, 15/11/2007), a compilation of seven stories about orphanhood that won the 7lletres prize.

A few years later, he published Falenes (Arola, 2012), a book of stories about nine characters who live complicated situations.

His first novel is Alians (Arola, 2014), in which Jaume Ferrer portrays the Mallorca of recent times, that of social, economic and landscape transformations.
