Joan Guasp

He's a Mallorcan writer. Influenced by the readings of Jules Verne, Franz Kafka and Robert Louis Stevenson, he began writing at the age of 17. Since 1980, he has intensified his publication in Catalan and won several prizes: Olot Children's Literature Prize (1980), Teatre Principal Prize of the Consell Insular de Mallorca (1987), Baltasar Porcel Prize (2001), El Micalet de València Prize (2003).

He is a columnist for the newspapers Última Hora and Ara Balears. In 2009, he was awarded one of the Premis d'Actuació Cívica de la Fundació Lluís Carulla. He was awarded the LiberPress International Literature Prize 2013. Part of his work has been translated into Spanish, Galician, French and English. In 2014, he was awarded the Vila de Consell (Mallorca) prize for his cultural and civic career. He was the founder of the Museu de l'Aforisme de Consell where he acts as its director.
