Xisco Bonnín

  • (Palma, 1967)

Photographer and cultural activist. Bonnín is a graduate in History of Art and holds a Master's in Cultural Heritage: Research and Management from the University of the Balearic Islands.

His personal photography project has focussed on post-industrial urban society from a sociological perspective. The thematic of his photographies turns around the city and the urban, understood as the subject where different contemporary dialectics come together. Although many of his projects use traditional documentary approaches, others have undoubtedly fused more experimental methods. 

In the latest series reflect upon concepts such as authorship, artist versus machine or the hybrid nature of the photographic in the XXI century.

His professional activities include cataloguing artistic and photographic archives and photography for museums, art galleries and foundations and management, conduct and curating exhibitions of photography and film series.

He is a co-founder of La Fàbrica de Licors, a space dedicated to photography and visuals arts, and the photography collective SaMakineta, which organizes Visionary, a series of screenings and workshops  in collaboration with the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation in Palma.

He has exhibited widely, both group and solo, in museums, cultural centers and art galleries such as Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Palma, Galería Xavier Fiol, CCCB (Barcelona), Galería Ferran Cano (Barcelona), Casal Solleric (Palma) and has participated to festivals of photography and visual arts such as Triennale der Photographie (Hamburg), Fotonoviembre (Tenerife), Festival SevillaFoto, Palmaphoto or TRAFIC (Barcelona).
