Beyond the common meaning of the word failure, there is the etymological meaning. Failure is fracture, breakage, fragmentation. And this rupture is what makes it possible for light to pass through walls, opaque objects and refractory spirits. It is through the cracks, through the interstices and through the open spaces that the torn entity leaves, that light can penetrate.

Success represents the exit, the attainment, the end. In success the light does not penetrate, but one is suddenly thrown into the shining exterior, and is often blinded.

The broken door is the synthetic image of success and failure. The broken door is the threshold between success and failure. The door is the exit, it is the success, but, being broken, it lets the light pass into the dark interior of the house. You can choose between the light of failure or the dazzle of success.
