INFORMATION

Carles Riba Award 2018.

Sons bruts is a book of sonnets, started in 2003 and finished in 2018. The author began to write them, literally, when he saw that he needed to express himself in a space of freedom in order not to crash. During the creative process, he was reflected in Palau i Fabre, when he said that if he had not been a poet and playwright he would have been a murderer or a demagogue. Following a break-up in love, Carles Rebassa sets in motion the formulation of feelings, glances and exhalations of the spirit with the poems, which are repeated and enlarged like an obsession, a cracked mirror, a reiteration, a self-portrait that mutes. The sonnet is a classical form that demands maximum precision and formal coherence, but at the same time it allows meanings to radiate and amplify everyday expressions, social and personal struggles, soliloquies and manifestos. Sons bruts is a book of love and death, the two learning and conversation materials of human life.
