Between October 9 and 12, Palma will host up to 27 shows of various formats

Today, Monday, October 9, Fira B begins! of performing arts. The opening event will be at 7:00 p.m. at the Teatro Principal with the performance of The Possibility of Tenderness, by the Chilean company La Re-Sentida (Marco Layera / Carolina Maza). This is the premiere in Spain of this work that reflects on masculinity from the point of view of young adolescents. After this premiere in Spain at Fira B!, the work can be seen in Madrid and Barcelona.

 

The opening ceremony will start at 7:00 p.m. with a brief inaugural speech by the director of the IEB, Llorenç Perelló, from the stage of the Sala Gran del Teatro Principal, just before the performance. The event will also be attended by Bartomeu Riera, IEB deputy director; Antoni Torres, Administrator of Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art of Palma; and Rafel Brunet, general director of Music and Performing Arts of the Palma City Council. This year's performing arts program has a total of 27 shows selected from among the 300 proposals submitted through the open call that closed at the beginning of the year. The first two days - October 9 and 10 - will focus mainly on text theater pieces and new languages. Wednesday and Thursday, October 11 and 12, it will be the turn of movement, dance, circus, street theater and visual theater. You can consult the complete schedule at http://www.firab.org/ca/.

 

Fira B! will take place in emblematic spaces and settings of the city of Palma. The venues for this edition will be the Mar y Terra and Xesc Forteza municipal theaters; the Principal Theater of Palma, the Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art, the Espacio el Tubo, the Plaza Mayor, the Plaza Miquel Maura (in front of the Xesc Forteza Theater) and the Rambla (exterior Teatro Principal de Palma).

 

The guest country of this eighth edition is Chile, with the presence of 2 Chilean companies in the programming: Cía. Interdram y Cía. LaRe-Sentida

 

The closing of Fira B! of performing arts, will be on Thursday, October 12, at the Teatre Principal. At 8:00 p.m. Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou will perform A beginning_Expanded Version, a piece that won the IEB 2022 creation aid, co-produced by L'Auditori de Barcelona, ​​the Centro Coregraphique National de Orleans (France) and the Teatro Principal de Palma.

 

Fira B! It combines programming and Professional Days, that is, activities aimed at the professional sector attending that will take place at the Mar y Terra theater in Palma. Among these activities, the presentation rounds of Creation Centers of the Balearic Islands and also of Festivals, networks and innovative dance, circus and movement projects stand out, with the presence of festivals from the Canary Islands or Scotland, among others; the state meeting of various Playwrights Associations; the round table on the latest advances in the Artist Statute (AAAPIB, AADPC, Conarte); the working groups and presentations of the Traffic Days (with Illescena, AVETID, Red Alcover) and the Mediterranean Network of Dance and Movement; or the Impulso a la Danza talk (Danza Valencia – Valencian Institute of Culture), which brings together a dozen programmers from Valencia, Alicante and Alcoy, among other activities that can be consulted at http://www.firab.org/es/p/journadas-pro/presentacion/
