INFORMATION

On Saint Peter's day, 1715, the artillerymen at the Zanoguera city wall bulwark, in Palma, got to know that the enemy general Calude D'Aspheld was staying in a house nearby. They aimed their cannons carefully; that one could be the last gunshot of the Succession War, that set Habsburgs and Bourbons against each other in Spain. This novel accurately goes over all the events that happened in the island between 1701 and the surrender of the city of Palma, mixing them, with the vicissitudes of the narrator, a young peassant who also tells the reader the events that happened outside the island through his particular point of view. The novel is a colourful and action-packed depiction of 18th century Mallorca, where incredible but real events took place
