Guiem Soldevila

Guiem Soldevila is a Menorcan musician, singer and composer, born December 12, 1980.

In his early days he formed part of groups such as Manners, Six Fusion, Lapsus and Songrey, with whom he toured Menorca, Catalonia and England.

In 2004, after studying at the Aula de Música Moderna in Barcelona, he began to compose for dance shows, poetry shows and soundtracks for images, as well as producing records for different artists.

In 2008, he released his first album, Orígens [Origins] (Ona Digital), a work that combines his own songs and instrumental music. He presented it during 2008 and 2009 in Menorca, Mallorca and France, accompanied by a great team of musicians.

In 2010, in a more acoustic format, he receives the Rec Play prize in Palma (Mallorca), and performs in the Mercado de Música Viva de Vic, the Espai Mallorca in Barcelona and the Espai Octubre in Valencia.

In 2011, he publishes his second album, Nura (Blau, Discmedi), based on the music of the poetry book of the Menorcan writer Ponç Pons.

With a more intimate staging, the album is presented live during 2012 and 2013 in Menorca, Mallorca and Catalonia. He performs in La Jazz Cava de Terrassa, in the Cafè del Teatre de Lleida and in the Òmnium Cultural de Barcelona, among others.

From 2012, it performs every summer in the prestigious Cova d'en Xoroi in Menorca, with an average of 40 concerts each season.

He is selected by Lluís Llach with the songs "Godotus" and "Teoria de l'absència" (2010 and 2011) for the Miquel Martí i Pol prize of the Certamen Terra i Cultura.

In 2014, he published his third album, Amoramort (Blau, Discmedi), with songs such as "La lluna sortirà després del sol", based on an African poem; "Gran buit", with lyrics and music by Soldevila, or "A la vora del mar", by the poet Salvador Espriu, original song that was a finalist for the Cerverí 2013 prize and again selected by Lluís Llach for the Miquel Martí i Pol 2014 Prize.

In 2015, he won first prize in the Horta-Guinardó (Barcelona) singer-songwriter competition and presented his new album at Litterarum, Born Centre Cultural, Emergent, Sant Cugat Poetry Festival, Heliogàbal, Jazz Cava de Vic, Festival Barnasants, etc.
